Quick start
CreateFiles+ adds fast blank-file creation to macOS. After installing the app, open CreateFiles+ once, allow the requested Finder permissions, and choose which file formats you want available.
- Use Finder's right-click menu in supported folders to create a blank file where you are already working.
- Use the Finder toolbar or the menu bar Quick Create window when the right-click menu is unavailable.
- Choose only the formats you use often so the create menu stays clean.
Creating files from Finder
In a supported Finder folder, right-click inside the folder or on the Finder background, choose CreateFiles+, then pick the file type. The new blank file is created in that folder so you can rename it and keep working.
Using Quick Create
Quick Create is the fallback for folders where macOS does not show Finder extension menus. Open it from the Finder toolbar or menu bar, choose the target folder and file type, then create the file directly.
Supported file types
CreateFiles+ focuses on starter files for everyday work, writing, data, web, code, and Office workflows.
- Text, Markdown, CSV, JSON, and HTML files.
- Swift, Python, and other common starter code files.
- Word, Excel, and PowerPoint starter documents when those formats are enabled.
Cloud folders and protected folders
macOS can block Finder extension menus in iCloud Drive, OneDrive, Google Drive, Desktop, Documents, and other protected locations. When that happens, use the Finder toolbar or menu bar Quick Create flow instead.

Mac App Store
